A couple of weeks ago we got hit with a virus on our computer. Or so we thought. Windows kept opening spontaneously on our computer and the alphabet was being typed over and over and over automatically and non-stop. It happend when Joseph was at work so I called him to see what I should do. He said to try restarting it. I did, and it didn't fix anything. So, we waited until he got home. After checking things out himself it was determined that yes, we did have a virus. He checked out a few things to fix it online but nothing was working, so we eventually decided we should wipe the hard drive and start over. Somehow the virus survived even that. This seemed way too crazy to be true so Joseph decided to see what he could figure out. He talked to his boss at work who used to be an IT guy. He said there was no way a virus could survive wiping the hard drive so it had to be something else. He asked what happened before the "virus" manifested itself. Joseph said nothing, we hadn't downloaded any files or anything. He explained that I had just been on the computer and then opened a word doc for Austin to type on while I made a phone call. He told Joseph that his kid banging around on the keyboard might have something to do with it. Joseph came home, pulled the batteries out of the keyboard, and magically the "virus" disappeared. Fortunately we didn't really lose any files because we have our external hard drive backing things up daily, we only lost a few pictures from Christmas that were taken on our family's cameras. Not too bad for having had to wipe the hard drive. So, Keren & Mom Wilde, if you are reading this, feel free to send us copies of the pictures you have. :)
It was pretty funny to us that our virus turned out to be named Austin. We love our little prankster!
