Wow, so much has happened in the last little while but it's really hard to find time to blog while caring for a newborn, especially since my only real free time is when he is sleeping. When, I'm really lucky, I squeeze in a nap while he's napping. Somehow my nap tends to take precedence over blogging. Hopefully I'll get used to this new way of life soon so our blog will be a bit more regular and not just a picture dump.
Speaking of picture dumps... this is one of them. I'll try to add enough captions to make it seem a bit more like a real post.
My brother and his wife had a baby 8 weeks before Austin was born. His baby was blessed in California the first weekend of May. In my naive new-mother state I decided we should attend. It was great to be there and see family, but wow did that trip wear me out. I guess I know not to take a road trip during the first 6 weeks for the next time around.
Above is a picture of the 4 cousin babies. From left to right: Ashley is the oldest, at a whopping 9 months. Tyson, 7 months. Nathan is my brother's baby, at 2 months. Austin, 2.5 weeks. It will be fun for them to grow up together, and hopefully Ashley won't be too sad when all her cousins go on their missions and leave her all alone :)
Here are two of my most favorite women in the world. My mother and Grandmother. I hope to be as wonderful of a mother as them. I think if I come even half as close I will have done rather well. They are amazing.
I couldn't resist this picture of my Grandma with Austin. She's a natural with babies.
This is Austin's favorite place to sleep. :)

My mom came to stay with us about a week after Austin was born. I have to say that I am the biggest fan of mothers coming to help after a baby is born. It seems after giving birth and caring for a baby for a few days all you want is for your own mommy to come take care of you. Thanks, Mom.

While she was here my mom made this awesome car seat cover. I love it so much. It makes me feel a lot better about taking him out in public knowing he's kind of in his own environment and people can't reach in and touch him without my permission. :)
This is the picture we meant to take when Austin first came home from the hospital, but actually took it at 4 weeks. Hopefully we will be taking these pictures regularly so we can see how he grows.
This is me holding my little baby on my first Mother's Day of actually being a mother. This just may be my very favorite thing in the world. Mother's day was also the day we blessed Austin. My parents, my brother and his wife and son, and my sister and her boyfriend all came down to share in that special day with us. Joseph's mom also came down from Alaska for a week and was here for the blessing too. These next few pictures are from that weekend.
This was just too cute not to post. My dad holding my baby. It's so fun to watch my dad with his grandkids... he's been ready to be a grandpa for a long time. :)
The cousins had bath time on Saturday night. Nathan, I think you need to ask your parents to take you to the beach so you can work on your tan. :)
This is the best we could get of Austin showing off his blessing outfit. It was complete with a vest and bow tie. He looked so handsome!
The proud parents holding their precious gift from heaven.

The whole family at the church for the blessing.
This one was just cute. Austin was sucking his thumb while sucking his pacifier.
This is my Mother-in-law, Ann. (Possibly soon to be known as "Grannie Annie"... we'll just have to wait and see.) She came down for a week to meet Austin, be here for the baby blessing, and help out around the house so I could catch up on some much needed rest. I think it gave her some much appreciated snuggle time with Austin as well.

Ann, here are some pictures of my little peanut in the peanut sling. Austin liked it much better this time... He was so comfortable he fell asleep. I've used it a couple of times since then and it is so nice to be able to use both hands while holding him. Thank you for giving me the gift of a bit more freedom. :)
Here, I'm thinking he might be outgrowing his cradle. Should he really be hanging out like that?
This one is just cute. Yes, I'm sure we are those parents that think any picture of their child is cute... but look at his little hands folded up so sweetly under his face. Adorable. Can you tell we're in love with this little guy?

I've been trying to get "grandma from Alaska" to adopt "Grannie Annie" forEVER!!! I say we all just start calling her that. Grannie Annie is the cutest name ever and we could drop the "from Alaska" on the end of her name every time we say it!
PS - your child is adorable.
PPS - who are all these cousins? I only knew about Nathan. Maybe from your cousins?
mom has been trying to avoid grannie annie since the beginning! and i dont blame her, grannie has got to make someone feel so much older than grandma.
i love that nathan looks so much like davey!
loved all the pictures. he's really a handsome little guy.
you look great too
So so so so cute!
It's always fun to be with family a specially when grandparents get to see new babies. The cousins picture is so great now and when they are older to look back at.
You look gorgeous Laura! Congrats on your sweet baby boy.
